Actually, I'm pretty fond of Usoppe's pic. Mostly her hair, and the fact that she finally wore a shirt under those overalls (soooo uncomfortable without one DX). It'll be harder to give her post-timeskip muscle, though she'll look really good if it's done right. Also, being female would probably only exacerbate her inferiority issues pre-timeskip, though it would make Sanja (what I call F!Sanji) cheering her up that much more touching.
I think maybe the problem with Luffyko's (man I don't like that name. Sounds awkward) picture is her lipstick and maybe her chin. She wouldn't wear lipstick, and her chin might be a bit too rounded.
F!Zoro's pic is... pretty much indistinguishable from her male pics. Which was part of the point, I'm sure. The change in facial structure (especially the jawline and mouth) is subtle enough that unless you're looking, you don't realize the difference. But once you do, it's really nice.
F!Sanji looks fantastic, as always. I already reviewed your color version of her pic here, so not much more to say about it.
Thanks on the Usoppe compliment. For some reason she's hard for me to do well consistently. I'm having the hardest time with her timeskip design, too. Grr. But yes, the t-shirt is non-negotiable for me. I always liked the shirt on guy-Usopp too, I wish he'd worn it more.
Yeah, I'm just not happy with that Luffy picture at all. Bleh.
I really, really like having Zoro be pretty much the same from male to female, save for the changes in bone structure and musculature and whatnot. Making Zoro traditionally feminine doesn't feel right to me, the same with Luffy. No reason I can think of why they'd have to change, either.
Thanks! I'm glad other people like my versions, too. Being super girly/hot just doesn't work for so many of them, and their personalities are so much of what I love about them, it doesn't seem right to change them.
Yeah, I think the expression I was trying for wasn't a good choice, and I had a hard time with it anyway. Plus her chin needs to be more narrow and her nose is all wrong. Basically I'm not happy with any part of her there.
And thanks, I like my Zora. Feminine Zoro just never seems right to me, she's got to have the same basic personality or it's just not Zoro.
Thank you. ^^ Somewhere I have an old still from the show I Photoshopped so Sanji was wearing "makeup" to illustrate my opinion that he would look awful in drag. I felt really vindicated when Oda drew his version.
I don't think Zoro could make Sanji do much of anything except angry. And I think Oda had Sanji, of all the Strawhats, wind up on that island specifically for a reason beyond just humiliating him or making him uncomfortable. Every other place the others wound up seems to put them in a position to become stronger or learn something new in some way, and I don't see why Sanji would be any different. There's something about this experience that he needs to learn from in a beneficial way, and I'm just curious as to what that might be.
Well, I figure Oda can do what he wants with the characters, since they're his to begin with and understands them better than anyone. Personally, I don't see Sanji staying in drag any more than I see Usopp remaining fat, but either are possibilities-- Oda is pretty unpredictable sometimes. But Sanji really does need to work through some of his gender issues and this might be the best way for him to do it. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes, as it were.
I have seen Oda's sketches, yeah, they're super cute. I sort of winced when they came out because I thought it was really cool that he did them, but then I knew people were going to keep telling me mine were wrong. XD
Well thanks, I like my Sanjiko, too (which is why I draw her that way), but Oda's is just as fun in other ways, I think.
